Christmas 2011

Dear family and friends,

Merry Christmas to All! The year 2011 is quickly drawing to a close and, as usual, my Christmas cards, presents, etc. are still "in development." I guess you see that not much has changed.

I'm still at the University of North Texas Health Science Center library as their Systems Librarian. I enjoy both the tech and library worlds, so this job fits pretty well. Traffic is still the worst part of the position, but I've learned a lot of alternate routes which usually get me home within 45 minutes. Since it takes only 22 minutes without traffic, that's not ideal, but others suffer much more than I. Again, my iPod Touch comes in really handy on the commute.

Endeavor launchIn the world of travel, I finally got to see the space shuttle lift off. It was a fantastic experience. In the video, you can see and hear the shuttle. I was in a boat 8 miles from the liftoff and by the time this video is taken, the shuttle is already many miles up in the sky. So, for it to be as loud as it is ... yes, that is the sound of it you hear ... that is amazing. (The video is about 2M in size, so it may take a little bit to download.)

There is not much else to share this year, but hopefully there will be some fun and exciting news for next letter.

Keep in touch – there is e-mail, phone, letter, and Facebook.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,

Mike
